Foundation is a cosmetic used to smooth and even out the complexion.

When looking for your perfect shade of foundation apply to your makeup-free jawline and blend in to your skin. If it doesn't disappear into your skin look for a different shade. Foundation looks darker in the bottle than it does on your skin, so don't purchase a foundation without trying it on your skin. If you are in between two shades you can combine them.

Try and examine the foundation on your face in natural light.

There is a some variety in foundation brands. Some have a shiny finish while others are matte. Choose a finish that you like or looks good on you.

If you have oily skin choose an oil free foundation. If your skin is dry get a foundation with a built-in moisturizer.

After using concealer on blemishes and under eyes, shake the bottle well and apply foundation on the nose, cheeks and forehead. With a sponge or finger tips blend the foundation from your forehead to your jawline until it disappears into your skin. Set with powder.
